Qualifying Qualities and Characteristics

  1. Social: I love being outgoing! Meeting new people and striking up conversation is one of my favorite things to do. I think this is an important quality of a class officer. To be able to communicate with your classmates and peers, you have to feel comfortable being friendly and surrounded by others.
  2. Approachable: It is really important to me that I come off as someone that is approachable and open to conversation. I not only try to be friendly, but I try to seem friendly as well so that anyone feels comfortable approaching me with concerns or conversation.
  3. Happy: I try to maintain a happy persona and character. With the natural stresses of college, it is important to maintain this happy “homeostasis” when taking on a class officer position because a positive energy will attract your peers and encourage them to be involved.
  4. Non-judgmental: I never make it my position to judge anyone for who they are, what they do, or what they don’t do. I truly believe that there is a greatness in everyone, and that those great qualities are what others should concentrate on.
  5. Organized: I like being involved and doing well in school, but to do that, I also need to be organized. I try my absolute best to give 110% to everything I do. I especially did this in my position as Class President the past few years.

Platform

Serving as Class President the past three years has been nothing but a pleasure. As I became more and more involved in the position, it became increasingly important to me to do a great job. As president, I have truly enjoyed running events, Pacers games, tailgates, giving out free coffee and ice-cream, hosting socials, and all of the other responsibilities that come with the job. I’ve enjoyed designing shirts and giving people the opportunity to share some Class of 2019 pride! As president I also represent our class at SGA senate weekly, expressing the thoughts and concerns of my peers. I try to make myself as approachable as possible and hope that each and every one of you feel comfortable approaching me with any thoughts or concerns.

I am really excited about the Class of 2019 Instagram that I started last semester. I began the #dawgsof2019 campaign in hopes that Class of 2019 students can get to know and feel more connected with each other. If you have the opportunity to follow the account, please do! I have A LOT of great things planned for senior year! I am hoping I will have the opportunity to execute the ideas (skiing, camping, wine tasting, brewery outings) I’ve been working on! The excitement I have for events and getting to know the #dawgsof2019 is proof of my passion for this position. I am a success driven person, open minded, non-judgmental, and I love getting to know people. I believe that these traits are important qualities for the president of our class, and am hoping for the opportunity to continue to be president of our class senior year!

Please list any experience and leadership positions held. Also, please BRIEFLY state what you have accomplished in these positions.
I am a second-year Resident Assistant in Residential College, and a sister in Tri Delta!
My time in Tri Delta gave me the opportunity to serve as Member Development Chairman, where I did programming to help foster community in our house.
I am currently serving as the Vice President of Educational Programming for Butler’s Panhellenic Association, where I provide anti-hazing programming as well as self-growth and, well, educational programming!

Qualifying Qualities and Characteristics

My experience as an RA has shown me firsthand the difference a strong community can make. I have experience programming in multiple positions that I hold, and understand what it means to represent an organization well—especially in an age of social media. I am personable and do my best not just to hear, but to understand outside points of view; and being part of several teams throughout my experiences in leadership positions has helped give me experience working as part of a team to make sure we serve the greater good in the best way possible. Organization is key to a positive term in a leadership position, and I have developed ways to keep myself and my schedule organized to make sure I’m efficient in all I’m involved in!

Platform

It’s hard not to love Butler when you experience our environment around campus. Seeing students happy to be here and enjoying their time as a Bulldog was what really drew me in to BU; last year, I asked you to let me help foster that community. This year, I’m asking you to let me continue.
A strong sense of community provides a solid foundation for other aspects of our lives; the ability to share and learn from others’ ideas and experiences is growing ever more critical in the world. I want to continue to help foster a community where Butler’s sense of community isn’t confined to the Butler Bubble, but reaches into Indianapolis as well.
Our campus should be a place of empowerment — a place where people feel challenged to be their best selves. I want to continue to develop the class you want. Let’s work together to empower and uplift — to create a place where we can thrive knowing we have the support of our fellow Bulldogs, no matter where they’ve come from or where they’re headed!

Secretary

I am involved in the pre-dental club in which I am the vice president. My job is to work with the president and other officers to organize meeting and various activities. I am also a lab assistant for the Chemistry in Society lab and work as an environmental programs assistant.

Qualifying Qualities and Characteristics

I am a very easygoing person and can get along with everyone which would help me in any situation that I may face if I get elected secretary. I am also a hard worker that gets things done efficiently and on time. Lastly, I am a good listener which would benefit me in this position.

Platform

My main goal for running for class officer is giving back to the Butler Community in which they have provided me with many opportunities and great memories thus far in my college career. I am looking to continue my involvement in such a great organization that will help make Butler even better than it already is and have an impact on the lives of as many students as possible. If I get elected, I want to help coordinate events with the other officers to get the 2019 class more involved on campus by giving them a voice on what should be done in the future to make their experience better.

I am involved in BU-APhA which is a pharmacy organization and I have served on exec as the financial assistant and will be the VP of finance for them next year. We put on networking events, bring in practicing pharmacists to speak, and put on many more events. I am also in Delta Tau Delta Fraternity and I have been on multiple committees throughout my involvement in that. I am also a member of BU-AMCP which is an organization for students who hope to pursue a career in the managed care or industry pharmacy sector.

Qualifying Qualities and Characteristics

I am a very dedicated and hard working person and I know that I would be able to use that to serve our class in a positive way. I am also a very friendly and outgoing person and I love to meet new people. This position would be great for someone who can reach out to others and be very approachable by their classmates if they have any concerns and that is why I think those traits are so valuable.

Platform

Through this position, I genuinely hope to help make our Butler experience better for everyone here. For the past two years I have served as Class Treasurer and worked alongside my fellow officers to plan events for the class. I would love the opportunity to do so again next year. With it being our senior year, I would love to be able to make it the best one yet for all of us and this position would give me a platform to help me do so!
